This year key assessment dates are as follows:

Reception Baseline Assessment – Must be completed within the first 6 weeks of children starting reception

Key Stage 2 SATs – Monday 11th May – Thursday 14th May 2026

Multiplication Tables Check (Year 4) – Must be administered within the 2-week period starting Monday 1st June 2026

Phonics Screening Check (Year 1) – Must be administered within the 1-week period starting Monday 8th June 2026

Term dates for community schools in Gateshead starting in September 2026.  The dates below are set by the council for Local Authority maintained schools. 

The Autumn 2026 term is due to start on Tuesday 1st September 2026.

Autumn Half term 26th October to 30th October 2026.

Last day of Autumn 2026 term is Friday 18th December 2026.

The Spring 2027 term is due to start on Monday 4th January 2027.

Spring Half term 15th October to 19th February 2027.

Last day of Spring 2027 term is Thursday 25th March 2027*.

*Friday 26th March is a Bank Holiday

The Summer 2027 term is due to start on Monday 12th April 2027.

Summer Half term 1st June to 4th June 2027.

Last day of Summer 2027 term is Friday 16th July 2027.

The proposed return date for academic Year 2027 – 2028 is Monday September 6th 2027
