Last week we welcomed Joe from Northumbria University’s STEM team to work with our Year One children. The children all became Naval Architects! We listened to the story ‘ The Boat that Sank’ by Pat Hutchins and then made our own boats to test. We tested to see if our boats would float or sink and then we added weight to our boat to test how much it would hold.
We then invited in our parents and carers into school. The children taught their grown ups how to make and test a boat. Then together they tested to see how much weight each boat could hold. We collated our results on a tally chart.
