Gateshead Dance Festival 2007.

Performing at the Elgin Centre.

Once again Years 1 and 2 were part of the Gateshead Dance Festival 2007. The festival has become an annual event in the Carrhill diary and shows the increasing role that the performing arts holds within school.

Practice sessions after school culminated with the performance at Gateshead Leisure Centre where friends and parents enjoyed a spectacular evening.

Carr Hill steals the show in Eldon Square.

As our reputation for performance spreads, Eldon Square invited us to help launch Christmas 2006. Children from KS1 performed a nativity, accompanied by KS2 singers. BBC televion's Paddy MacDee described us as a truly special school, before introducing the performance. Many Carr Hill parents came along to support us and the general public enjoyed the show.

Callum Kidd thanks children, parents and teachers.

The Performing Arts at Carr Hill

performing arts studio

Most schools take pride in the annual Nativity or other seasonal performances. At Carr Hill these productions take place in the performing arts studio. The space boasts an attached sound room from which both sound and lighting effects are controlled.

Thanks to the work of Joanne Gilmour and Amanda Crooks, Carr Hill has submitted a successful bid for the Arts Mark Gold Award. This award recognises the important role the performing arts play within the school. The performance space provides a venue for gymnastic clubs, visiting theatre groups and film screenings.
