At Carr Hill we welcome interest in our school and enjoy opportunities to show how special we are. Ofsted provided such an opportunity during July and we are proud to share the outcomes. The report begins...........

'This is a good school in which pupils’ personal development and well-being are outstanding. This is recognised by parents who hold the school in high regard and give credit to the headteacher and staff for providing a supportive, caring environment. The view of one parent that their child had gained in confidence and gone from strength to strength is echoed by many.'

During July we said goodbye to our year six leavers and announced the annual award winners. Everyone felt very emotional watching a slide show of their progress through school as they marched into the hall.
Lee Harper recieved the 'Head Teacher's Award', Carly Ivers was presented the 'David Padgett Award' whilst Jade Reay was given the 'Maureen Padgett Award'.
Several runners up also took home awards.

School Council update.

School Council have been particulary busy this term. Having completed a 'Save Water' campaign they then collected ideas for the refurbishment of the bottom yard. Now they have turned their attention to raising attendance. If you would like School Council to discuss your own ideas, please speak to the councillors in your class.

Are you ever late for school? These days you could be met at the door by a school councillor who will take your name and list you on the late register. After only one week, we had hardly any latecomers. Remember everyone, school starts at 8.50am.

Keep up to date with School Council activities by reading their newsletter.

Last week, children from years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 attended heats for the Junior Games 2008. Once again the Carr Hill kids showed what they're made of as they braved the pouring rain. Friends and family cheered them on as they raced on the Northern Fields of Saltwell Park.

Chloe Batey and Cameron Hope ran particularly well. They were asked to represent their team in the NewcastleGateshead Junior Games Challenge at Gateshead Stadium.
