A musical Halloween

More children than ever are learning to play musical instruments this year. Several children have chosen guitar whilst whole classes are learning to play the violin or cornet. All this coinciding with our Halloween celebrations made for some interesting photographs of Carr Hill by day and by night.

"It was good because I mixed with other teachers." Liam

"I think it was a good experience and I enjoyed the food the most." The living legend that is Kain.

"I thought it was a really good experience." Colin

"I thought it was so amazing, words cannot say!" Brandon

"It was a great experience away from work."

Boosting aspirations in Year 6

A glimpse of the future

At Carr Hill we have high expectations for our children. With this in mind, Year 6 have been working with the Newcastle University 'Connexions' programme. This enabled the children to explore different opportunities for the coming years, from car mechanics to visiting Newcastle University.

A graduation ceremony helped year 6 remember the main message..............'aim high and have ambition'.

Junior Games 2008.

Racing at Saltwell Park.

Last week, children from years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 attended heats for the Junior Games 2008. Once again the Carr Hill kids showed what they're made of as they braved the pouring rain. Friends and family cheered them on as they raced on the Northern Fields of Saltwell Park.

Chloe Batey and Cameron Hope ran particularly well. They were asked to represent their team in the NewcastleGateshead Junior Games Challenge at Gateshead Stadium.

Year 2 get help from year 5.

Tiffany gives some help

We have been reading together since October. Our buddies come for a fun half hour
reading session where we read together talking about illustrations and the
content of our books. We read a book from the O.R.T and also a book from our
class library. We have shared our favourite books and authors explaining
what we liked about them. Sometimes we play games or find words on a giant
word search. The Year 5 children keep a record of the books we have read
together, they give us lots of encouragement and praise.

Year 5 at Whithaugh park.

Everyone.

Louisa Phillips describes the first day at Whithaugh park.....

We arrived at Whithaugh Park. We went straight to the rope park and Steven got me really muddy after five minutes. Mr. Harris and Mr. Fowler picked me up and dunked me in the mud.

For tea we had pasta bolognaise. After tea we went into the hall to watch Shrek. Whithaugh Park totally rocks............10/10.

Typical walk.

The rope bridge.
