Carr Hill Bike Day!
The 6th October was Carr Hill's first Bike It Day! It was an amazing success! Over 125 bikes and scooters came to school where children then joined in with our ever popular Breakfast Club. Beautiful fruits such as: pineapple, water melon and kiwi were served with croissants and cereals!
Alan, our Bike It Man, was really impressed, especially with the number of family members, parents and carers who joined in.
Alan even found time to fix some of the bikes. One bike came to school without a brake and will go home tonight with the front brake working!![]()
Thank you for the amazing support! Please let us know what you thought of the day. We will soon have our bike shelters up for you to lock up your bikes and mine! Remember Year 5 and 6 you can start to ride your bikes to school from Monday morning!
Even Danny Found time to have a go!

The Yellow Brick Road
This week, Carr Hill played a huge role in improving our local environment. Our Council comissioned artist Mandy Matthews, a specialist in the design of social spaces, to work with our children. She has previously worked on designs for playgrounds and parks and was excited about the opportunity to brighten the lane between Elgin Road and Gainsborough.
They helped to design a 'Wizard of Oz' inspired mural for the wall and took great care as they painted the final product.

French Day
Arriving at school today, our children knew they had a real treat to look forward to. A visitor to school could be forgiven for thinking they had wandered into central Paris. Pupils worked in groups, containing children from year 1 to year 6 and travelled around various French workshops throughout the day.
Children made clay models of French landmarks, Mardi Gras masks and treats. They enjoyed French dancing, cooking, games and food tasting. We all came together at the end of the day, to celebrate our achievements and share our experiences.

Good Luck Great North Runners!!!
Golden Book assembly was particularly special for three children today! Ellie Stringer, Ellis and Owen Simpson will be taking part in the Junior Great North Run on Saturday, raising money for the NSPCC (a charity close to all of our hearts)! Share your support and comments here. Good luck! We will all be thinking of you (and shouting very loud!)
